Several years ago I remember visiting my dad and having dinner with my uncle. He made some grilled bacon wrapped asparagus. They were SO good and ever since I’ve been hankering for them.

It has taken me years to actually make them. They would slip my mind because I’m the only asparagus fan in the house (even with it wrapped in bacon!). Come on, bacon makes everything better! I love the quote, “I love you more than bacon”. Now that’s love.

Well, now that we live with my grandfather I knew I’d at least have someone else who would eat them with me so I finally made them. I’m SO glad I did!

Making Garlic Pepper Bacon Wrapped Asparagus was super easy. To start I trimmed the white ends off each asparagus and tossed them in extra virgin olive oil.

I used an extra virgin olive oil by Emile Noel. Emile Noel has been making virgin oils (olive, nut, and seed) for a long, long time – over four generations. All of this yumminess comes from Provence, France where they process and harvest black olives when they are at their perfection.

And you know what? Their olives are not genetically engineered. To learn more about non-GMO foods please read my Rumiano Organic Non-GMO Cheese Review.

I used Emile Noel Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil Mild Taste for Everyday Use to coat my asparagus. It gave the perfect coating to my asparagus! It’s light flavor didn’t over power my asparagus or more importantly the bacon. And had no bitterness to it whatsoever.

I love that even though it’s labeled Mild Taste for Everyday Use it still has the wonderful classic, yummy olive oil scent. And the bottle is absolutely lovely. A thick, well designed beauty. It’s almost a shame I poured it into a oil olive dispenser.

Emile Noel says:

This olive oil is cold-extracted from black olives harvested when perfectly ripe. A fine, light flavor, with a light fruitiness and no bitterness. Superior quality – it takes 194 oz of olives to obtain 34 fl oz of this pure natural juice. Available in 17 fl oz and 34 fl oz.

Make sure all of the spears get coated evenly. You don’t want to miss out on all that yumminess!

Sprinkle garlic pepper (I use McCormick’s California Style Garlic Pepper) on the coated asparagus and wrap with bacon.

Depending on how much bacon and asparagus you have wrapping them can go a variety of ways. You may want the bacon and asparagus on a 1:1 ratio or wrap them in bundles. I usually just base it on how much bacon I have and divide my asparagus among them. Then I sprinkle on more garlic pepper! Can’t have enough of that.

Once the asparagus has been wrapped preheat your oven to 400 degrees F and go ahead and place them in the oven too. Letting the bacon slowly cook keeps everything together better.

I place the bundles on a cooling rack inside of a baking mat lined baking sheet. I don’t like them sitting in grease!

I set my timer for 30 minutes and then check on them. I just keep an eye on them every few minutes until I think they look done. Yum!!

Garlic Pepper Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
Olive oil coated asparagus sprinkled with garlic pepper and wrapped in bacon is a perfect compliment to any meal. It looks elegant and tastes amazing.
Instructions
  1. Trim about two inches off each asparagus spear.Place the asparagus in a bowl and toss with enough olive oil to make sure each one is coated.
  2. Sprinkle coated asparagus with garlic pepper and wrap in bacon. You make choose to wrap one or bundles of asparagus depending on the quantity of each you have.
  3. Place on a cooling rack inside of a baking mat lined baking sheet. This keeps your bundles from sitting in grease. Sprinkle with more garlic pepper if you wish.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and place your asparagus in the oven. After about 30 minutes have passed check to see if they are done to your likeness. Continuing baking if not or take out and enjoy!
